When we say we give you only real, active member profiles, what we mean is this: Many other dating and/or social networking sites contain fake or “Emissary” profiles. Usually these profiles are either operated completely by that site’s software and are programmed to send to members automatically-generated form messages and responses, or they are operated by actual people whom the site has hired to operate them.
Also, many of these sites keep public on their site – and even include in their membership tallies – the profiles of actual paying members whose memberships have long since expired or been otherwise terminated.
On some popular dating sites, up to 95% of the profiles fall into these categories. Some of these websites have been sued for using deceptive business practices such as these, and - when their actual membership numbers are revealed in court - they are sometimes as much as 95% lower than what the website claims them to be.
JadedLovers.com neither uses nor condones the use of fake or “Emissary” profiles. JadedLovers.com also hides the profiles of expired actual members, so active members can't be misled into thinking those profiles are still active. It’s in our Terms of Use!
When we say we use no bogus matching algorithms that don’t work, we mean our experience is that mathematical algorithms claiming to be able to match members based on personality traits or other characteristics do not work for real people in real life situations. You can read more about how we feel about this here.
When we say we don’t send you spam emails containing phony “New Matches in Your Area,” we mean that most of the above-described websites send you endless emails showing you "members in your area" whose profiles that website feels you should be interested in taking a look at – and then when you go ahead and take a look at those profiles, you find that they’re almost always fake. Our opinion is that such a practice is really just a tactic to get you to log back into that website. Often, an email will go out to two different people on opposite sides of the country – containing the same “member profiles” in each email. That website is able to send the exact same email to two different people on two different sides of the country because, in almost every case, the “member profiles” contained in such emails are fake profiles which that website has set up in various locations throughout the country or world, and has just given each of them a different postal code so they show up in searches conducted by actual paying members regardless of their location.
When we say we use no technological gimmicks that are irrelevant to the real-life meeting process, we mean that some websites exist simply because of some nifty technological selling point which tech bloggers love to write about, but which in our opinion has nothing to do with actual online dating. One such example is any mathematical matching algorithm – especially one which claims to match people based on, for example, things they like to do on dates. We feel that online dating is a unique activity which requires the getting to know one another through rounds of email messages before you can even think about the actual date. We feel that any website which tries to convince you otherwise is just trying to sell something which might sound nifty the first time you hear it, but which is, in our opinion, ultimately just a sales gimmick.
A: That's certainly part of the reason. But also remember that we just launched on March 31, 2011, so we’ve only just begun to build a membership base!
A: Well...at THIS point they're not - but only because we haven't been live for long enough to build a large membership base yet. Think of it this way: Every member that you meet through JadedLovers.com is an active member who is actually using their account. Once we start to build a membership base, we think your odds of finding someone on JadedLovers.com will be pretty darn good.
A: No way! Sometimes an actual person will join JadedLovers.com with the intention of creating and operating one or more fake/fictional profiles on the site in order to spam you through the message system or try to induce you to contact some outside email address so they'll have your personal email address for their own commercial purposes.
We neither create, operate, use, nor condone the creation, operation, or use of such profiles on JadedLovers.com.
If you find any such profile on JadedLovers.com, notify us of it. If we determine that it is in fact a fake/fictional profile, we'll delete it from the site.
There's more info on this subject in our terms of use.

A: If your membership expires, it will be considered an inactive membership. In that case, any messages you have sent through the Mail system may or may not remain in the Mail system, and the recipient(s) may still be able to read them. However, the recipient(s) will not be able to reply to those messages or view your profile.
If you cancel your membership or it is otherwise terminated, any messages you have sent through the Mail system will be deleted from the database, as will your profile itself.
A: If you are viewing that member's profile, click "Block Me" in the lower left corner of their profile and follow the prompts. If you are on an Open Mail page, click "Block Author" on the right side of the page and follow the prompts.
A: Some people like Instant Messaging, and some do not. We personally feel that an Instant Messaging system on a dating site, while convenient to those people who want it, is also very inconvenient to those people who don't want it and feel anxious about having to reject or ignore instant messages to which they don't want to respond.
If we get FROM ALL GENDERS a substantial number of requests for an Instant Messaging system, we will create one which we think will be acceptable to all members.
To request that JadedLovers.com add an Instant Messaging system, please contact us via the contact form.
